Having been granted clearance, his company was the preferred mover at West Point Military Academy in Highland Falls, New York, coordinating countless tractor trailers and hauling loads of household goods long distances across the continental United States. Professional Life

A Humble Start

I began my journey as a determined 17-year-old with no formal education, and the belief that somehow I was ready to take on the world. With a mediocre resume and the assistance of my father, I landed myself a job as an automotive salesperson at the Westchester Toyota dealership in my home town of Yonkers, NY.

There, I found myself surrounded by some of the best in the industry (you know who you are), and might I add that this is not an endorsement, as they have since moved on. Those countless Saturday morning meetings were invaluable experiences that assisted in molding my future, and paving the path for my success… regardless of how many times I stumbled along the way.

The last three years of my automotive sales career took place at Yonkers Honda. This was my first choice of employment in my late teens, but due to my age and lack of experience, my first two attempts to get hired there were turned down.

Fortunately, I’m a persistent little bugger, and I returned five years later with a sales portfolio and a customer satisfaction score that basically presented them with “an offer they couldn’t refuse.” There will never come a day when I regret that change of employment, or the relationships I built with Bob and his associates at Yonkers Honda. They taught me so much, and for this I am forever grateful. Of course, I couldn’t reference this establishment without the mention of my old general manager and good friend, Gregory Knawrocki, as he will always hold a very special place in my heart.

“Moving” Into the Future

It is without a doubt my passion, persistence, and love for challenges that led me at 25 years old to leave Yonkers Honda and begin my first moving company. I succeeded in expanding that company to two locations and 50+ full-time employees, all while delivering 5-star customer service. We were a leading provider for local, long distance, military, and even some international moves.

The yellow pages were big then, and I started a massive advertising campaign across the country. Due to the size of the campaign, I was able to negotiate a pay-per-call arrangement, where I only paid for real calls that lasted over 120 seconds. With the large network of resources I had developed over the years across the country, we began to coordinate moves from one state to another without even touching a box! We figured out a way to have a local company pick up the shipment, a long distance hauler swoop by and load the shipment, and then have it delivered wherever it was going.

A Dark Time

Abruptly in February, 2012, things would take a turn for the worst, and the next 3 years were hell.

My father was diagnosed with liver cancer. After losing him to a heart-wrenching battle, my mother fell ill and suffered even worse. I had the honor of being the primary caretaker for both of them, but I cannot explain the toll watching it all unfold took on me and the business I had built.

I was spiritually and mentally bankrupt! I believed I had lost everything worth living for. Faced with reality and anchored to nothing, I turned to drugs and alcohol. What had been just a “recreational habit” then turned into a 24/7/365 habit.

The remonstrance of the business I had been so proud of was now a shell of what it had been. Faced with overwhelming financial responsibilities, and now a laundry list of dissatisfied customers, we closed the doors on that chapter of my life. Unfortunately, the disease of addiction eats right through closed doors.

New Beginnings

How dark it was before the dawn. They say rock bottom is a great place to start.

Well for me, that proved to be true. With the help of the 12 Steps and an amazing fellowship, my life changed forever. I recovered. “I sought my soul, but my soul I could not see. I sought my God, but my God eluded me. I sought my brother, and I found all three.”

With my priorities in order (God first, you second, me third), I enjoy the process of helping others to heal from mental health issues, trauma and substance abuse by sharing my own journey. I am a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate , a Certified Addiction Coach and also worked part time as a sober house manager at one of the worlds leading treatment facilities for alcohol and drug addiction. A true honor and a privilege to give back to the community that helped give me my life back. I will never be able to repay them, but for that I am responsible!

Fast forward years later my phone was still ringing from past clients and referral sources. With the extra large network I put together many years back and 10+ years experience I decided to give the business I was once so proud of another shot.

Having a clear understanding that there is nothing more important then placing spiritual principles at the forefront of evey decision we make. This time I have no interest in taking over the world; I just want to see how much I can contribute to it.
